WP_RDFa

August 1st, 2006 by daniel

I have been asked to look into and develop a plugin for wordpress. This plugin will allow users of wordpress systems to easily add metadata (using RDFa).

I have started my own wordpress blog just for this, it can be found here: https://www.vanirsystems.co.uk/wprdfa/
It will be used for trialling things out, as well as to provide a diary of how things are going.

So go and have a look at it and feel free to give me some comment on the new blog.

technorati tags:rdfa, semanticweb, rdf, wordpress, blogging,web20

Other than that, RadioTag is going well - the community is growing and a couple of companies have shown interest including Emap, MediaSpan and Total Rock. Seriously, join the RadioTag community, and give me some feedback, I want to make it a great app.

p.s. For those who are reading this that aren’t techy minded and want some background: basically metadata is all the information about something that the user doesn’t need to know about but may be useful (such as details about who made a blog post, or what the name “fido” refers to - which eventually means that you could end up seeing that the thing with the name “rover” is the same type of thing as “fido”). Metadata on the web was previously just information in very unstructured format (e.g. a list of keywords or a plain English description of that page) but now, thanks to RDFa (and other things like FOAF, XFN, Microformats etc) we can give metadata more meaning.

Is WP_RDFa still usable ? The code is not available anymore.

    Hi Kael,

Unfortunately not. I got to writing up the specification for it, and making the skeleton code, but my work was taking up most of my time and I wasn’t getting much help from anyone.

You are welcome to bring it back alive again.
Contact me if you are interested.

    Daniel
